Recycling Bins & Chutes
Clean metal which is not rusty is welcome in the recycling system.
Like anything you put in the recycling bin, rinse it first if it has food waste.
If the item does not fit easily into the bin, dispose of it as bulky waste or use one of the options listed under Specialised Recycling.

Info & Insights
Pure metals are relatively easy to recycle. Saying that, the blue bins focus on collecting two main types of metal: steel (think food cans) and aluminum (drink cans). Other metal items are welcome in the blue bin as long as they are clean and not rusty.
Whether the item eventually gets recycled depends on matters beyond your control.
Items that are a mixture of metals are less likely to get recycled because separating the metals is technically difficult. Regardless of this risk, you should send metal items for recycling given the high metal recycling rates.
