Medicine strips - formally known as pharmaceutical blister packaging - cannot be recycled because they are made of plastic and aluminium heat-sealed together with glue.
Mixed metal and plastic materials like blister packs and chip bags cannot be recycled because it is too difficult to separate the components.
Info & Insights
Note that the Green Doctors Pill Blister Pack recycling research project paused their collection in October 2022. It was later revived for a few months in 2024. We don't know if the programme will return.
